TdF Stage 1: July 04, 2010

Remark: this stage does not take part in the game.

The first regular stage of the Tour de France 2010 took the cyclists from Rotterdam in The Netherlands to Brussels in Belgium (223 km). The local organizers had prepared a nice suprise for the riders close to the finish: they tried to squeeze the 200 men peloton at full speed through a six meter wide street. This resulted in a massive crash which only the first 20 riders managed to avoid. Allessandro Petacchi was the fastest of this group and he won the stage. Since the crash happened in the final km, everybody got the same finishing time so Fabian Cancellara, who was also involved in the crash, kept the yellow jersey.
