The 192 km stage to Saint-Fargeau progressed in the same way as yesterday's stage. Two men escaped from the peloton but they were caught before the finish. Mark Cavendish of the UK won his fourth stage but number two Tyler Farrar (USA) came close to beating him this time. Rinaldo Nocentini kept the yellow jersey.
There were some interesting developments in the game. Today we had two winners with 82 points, the highest stage score so far in 2009. The first was Erix Schokker (The Netherlands). This is fourteenth stage win in the history of the game. He has managed to win a stage in eight different game editions. The second stage winner of the day was Martin Hoffellner (Austria). The stage win also earns him the first place in the overall rankings, a place he also claimed in 2005 and 2007. Third place in the stage was for Kirk Schaubmayer (USA). Bastin Verweij (The Netherlands) and Rune Førsund (Norway) share the second place in the overall rankings, only five points behind the leader.
