Average choice of the participants (2008)This is a list of the most popular Tour de France cyclists among the 447 participants in the Internet Tour de France Game 2008. Every time that a cyclist appears at the first place of a team list he receives 15 points, for a second place 14 points and so on. All these points have been added together and the result is this list which represents the average choice of the participants in this game. The three most popular cyclists in the 2008 edition of the game are different from the past two editions. Norway's Thor Hushovd moved up from place three to the top spot. Cadel Evans (10th in 2007) is the second most favorite cyclist while last year's number eight, Alejandro Valverde, is third. The most popular cyclist of 2006 and 2007, Robbie McEwen, dropped to place four. Forty-five of the 180 riders have not been included in any team. Last year this number was 27 of 189. The increase was caused by the fact that fewer teams participate this year. The top 15 of this list have been used for creating the artificial competitor Jan Modaal (the Dutch version of John Doe).
This list contains the points of each cyclist together with his name and the number of participants that have chosen him in their teams (between brackets). The number of points has been computed by awarding 15 points for every first position in a team, fourteen for every second position and so on.
