TdF Stage 17: July 19, 2017

The seventeenth stage was a tough one: 183 km from La Mure to Serre-Chevalier with two out-of-category climbs. A crash early in the stage caused Marcel Kittel to abandon the race and the peloton broke in two parts. Of the 30 men of the early breakaway Primoz Roglic of Slovenia was the only one who managed to stay ahead. He won the stage. Behind him, Chris Froome finished third, extending his overall lead with a few extra seconds.

In the game, Chukkie Stridh of Sweden won his third stage of this edition. Erik TKS (The Netherlands) was second while Mäster Lagom (Sweden) and Tore Högman (Sweden) shared third place. Mojho Cz of the Czech Republic remained the overall leader but behind him, former game winner Frank Koper of The Netherlands made a big leap from place eight to second. He will be a threat for the leading position in the coming days. Marcel Spanjer (The Netherlands) completes the overall top three.

Today green jersey holder Marcel Kittel of Germany left the race after a crash. He was a member of 287 game participant teams. Thibaut Pinot (member of 77 participants teams) was the other major abandon today.
